Living in a "Zoom Town"

Category News

Isabelle Coetzee and Emanuel Germanis, MD of Evo Property, investigated the benefits and draw backs of moving to a Zoom Town (a smaller community in a town or suburb located away from the busy city life) in this article which was published on Just Money on 22 January 2021.

"For a start, land prices are less in these areas, and, therefore, so are rental prices," says Germanis. "I've seen families save 40% of their income by moving to a remote area."

Families can enjoy the more laid back country lifestyle and many people are opting to escape the city rat race now that businesses are embracing the remote working model.  However, the night life and social scene are still holding many millennials in close range to bigger towns.

Emanuel also points out that a family demanding private schooling for their children or with members in need of continued specialised healthcare may opt for central living to avoid the commute.
